[2:00] Thank you.
[2:30] Thank you. Good evening. Good evening. I don't have a microphone. Oh, I'm just getting hands out. I don't want to be in a box.
[2:58] So, good evening. I am Pastor Kathy Stengel, if we haven't met, and welcome to this evening's festivities. Is there anybody here who's already had enough of all things Christmas?
[3:10] Had enough Christmas carols? Had enough of all the... Anybody? Well, good. Because that's why we're here, because we just don't get enough of it. So I'd like to welcome you and invite you to participate as you feel comfortable and enjoy the music that you're invited to sing along with.
[3:32] And you could probably sing along with the ones you're not supposed to sing along with, just you don't get a microphone. But we are here, most of all, to enjoy this season of the coming of Christ.
[3:48] And so I'm glad that you came and can be a part of that. One of the things that we'll invite you to do, if you feel so moved that you want to support our music ministries and put an offering in the box back there, that's what it would go for.
[4:07] Nothing else. Just the music ministries. And so if you feel so inclined, you can. We welcome it anytime, all the time, because music is so important to us.
[4:18] So let's say a word of prayer. Lord, bless us. Inspire us and alight us with your Holy Spirit that we may sing joyfully and be together in fellowship and friendship.
[4:31] In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. And don't forget there's cookies everywhere. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
[4:41] Thank you. Welcome, everybody that's here, and welcome to everybody that's online.
[4:55] We're really happy that you could join us for this night of music, singing, and fellowship. Our sermon series has been about coming home. And I once heard home described as a place you feel welcome no matter how long you've been away.
[5:08] And we hope that everybody that walks through these doors feels like they are coming home when they walk into Pendleton. I know we're grateful that Kate found her way home. Thank you.
[5:19] Thank you, everybody. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I've always loved the movies where these large families come around the piano and sing Christmas carols, and it kind of feels like that tonight for me.
[5:34] So you're making a vision come true. Our first song will be familiar, but I'm giving you a warning to pay attention because we've changed the word a little bit. Uh-oh. That didn't sound good. Did I get up? I got a microphone on the phone.
[5:45] Do you need this one? Yeah. I have enough juice, but not enough. Signal. I will turn it on. Maybe have a backup. Wouldn't be home without a hiccup, right? It wouldn't be home. And here's our fabulous tech guy. We'll applaud for him later.
[5:56] Or no. No answer. No answer. . . . . . . . .
[6:07] . . . . . . . . . . .
[6:18] . . . . . . . . .

[10:17] I almost got hit twice so I'm thinking okay shift your focus God kept you from having an accident and from Heaven anything bad happened so this is Heaven Everywhere I hear the bells ringing loud and clear You can't help but love this time of year It's Christmas time There's something in the air There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere Ooh, somehow there's a little more of love Maybe there's a little less of us
[11:22] Maybe we're just slightly more aware There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere It's the smile on a man who has finally found hope It's the tears of a mother whose child has come home It's the joy that we feel and the love that we share There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere It's the grace that we show to a world that's not fair It's funny how it takes a holiday It's funny how it takes a holiday To show us how the world could truly change If we all took the time to really care There'd be a little more of Heaven everywhere
[12:24] It's the grace that we show to a world that needs hope It's giving our lives knowing we're not our own It's the joy that we feel and the love that we share There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere There's a little bit of Heaven everywhere Angels we have heard on the ice Sweetly singing o'er the plains And the mountains in the sky Echoing their joyous dreams Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

[14:33] And that guy making all those funny noises back there, most of you know he's my husband, John Himes, and I'll get to the rest of the band, but there's two of them for you. So family members come and go, and within our church it's no different.
[14:48] The connections and the memories that we make with each other kind of become these beautiful photos and the album of our heart. And as newer members who have quickly become family, tonight we're happy to have our associate pastor and her two daughters, Maddie and Eva, and they're going to lead us in O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.
[15:12] So Betty says she's so happy to be here with you tonight, and I know she misses being at church for sure for those of you that know Betty.
[15:42] Hi Julie, Julie Elmer Maciaski is on. Anybody remember Julie? One of your bells? Hi Julie. And these comments keep disappearing so forgive me as I try to get them back up.

[17:33] Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel. Come to thee, O Israel.
[17:55] Good evening, everybody.
[18:09] For those of you who may not know me, my name is Scott. I'm also part of your pastoral team, and we're going to have a reading from the Gospel of John. We're going to be reading from chapter 1, verses 1 through 14.
[18:20] Hear these words from Scripture. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
[18:34] Through him all things were made. Without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
[18:46] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[18:59] He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light.
[19:10] He only came as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world.
[19:22] And though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
[19:35] Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, or of a husband's will.
[19:51] But born of God. The word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory.
[20:03] The glory of the one and only Son. Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. This is the word of the Lord.
[20:16] Thanks be to God. Our next song is called Just a Girl, and it's from the innkeeper's perspective.
[20:30] So I hope you enjoy this. This is featuring Tom Crosby on lead. I wonder if you've heard the story Little fame and lesser glory.
[21:02] The knight, the keeper of the inn. The little town of Bethlehem. The town of Joseph and his Mary. About to birth the Savior of the world.
[21:18] His wife said, Go and see who's knocking. He ran down to the gate, unlocked it. The moment he heard Mary's cry. He couldn't look them in the eye.
[21:29] Denied them and went back to bed. When his wife asked who was there. He said, I don't know. It's just a girl.
[21:43] Just a couple of gypsies begging at the door. Told them we don't have room for anymore. Close the door. Close the door.
[21:56] It's just a girl. He tried to sleep but wasn't able. He snuck out to the dirty stable.
[22:08] Until it found recovering. Later in her suffering. The keeper knelt outside the barn. And in the light of that great star.
[22:19] I prayed. What have I done? He's just a baby. Just minutes old there. I'm trembling in the hay.
[22:32] I couldn't find a room for them to stay. So soon. He's just a baby. There was no road.
[22:50] There was no crown. The shepherd stood. On royal ground.
[23:04] But he prowess. For what he'd done.
[23:18] He turned away. God's only son. He's just a king.
[23:30] Just a million angels. Crabbing in the sea. Jesus there among humanity.
[23:42] He's just a baby. Just minutes old there. Trammling in the hay. Staring at his mother in the face.
[23:56] She's just a girl. Just a girl. Just a girl. Just a girl. You know that she just changed the world. Does she even know that he will change the world?
[24:12] Does Mary know that he will say the world? Do it. She's just a girl. She's just a girl.
[24:28] Just a girl. Just a girl. Just a girl. guitar solo So most of you know our fabulous violin player, Adrienne.
[25:13] And this fabulous woman next to me that keeps me sane, Sung Kim Kubiak. And our fabulous guitar player, John Zimmerman.
[25:27] Yay! Our next song is Midnight Clear. You'll recognize a lot of the traditional hymns, so please sing really loud out for those parts.
[25:43] And then it brings in a new little bit of a chorus, but it's fairly simple, and I think you'll catch right on, and we'll get to go through it once or twice. So this is Midnight Clear. Where is Midnight Clear?
[26:00] It came upon the Midnight Clear, that glorious song of hope.
[26:20] From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold. He saw the earth goodwill to men from heaven's all-gracious King.
[26:39] The world in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing.
[26:52] Still through the golden skies they come, with peaceful wings on gold. And still their heavenly music flows through all the weary world.
[27:11] And man at all with man is not the love song which they bring. G Melody breaks through the silence Christ the Savior is born Jesus the love song of God Glory to God in the highest
[28:34] Glory to God evermore Good news, great joy for all Melody breaks through the silence Christ the Savior is born Jesus the love song of God Jesus the love song of God You're the love song of God You're the love song of God You're the love song of God You're the love song of God That glory is song of God From angels standing near the earth

[49:04] No, you can actually go up and stay. I'm going to speak for a little, if you don't mind standing there. He doesn't want to. Okay, that's fine. I think sometimes we can feel like the little drummer boy not knowing what we have to offer.
[49:23] And Jesus tells us all that we're enough, and we all have something to offer to each other, to this church, to the community, to the world. We give out of an abundance of our blessings, and we give of our time and our talents, and there are a ton of people to thank in helping to put this together tonight, and you'll see that in your program.
[49:44] Gifts and offerings come in all forms to support each other, our community, and the church. So if you brought canned goods tonight, I thank you. If the Spirit moves you to make a donation to the music ministry, I thank you.
[49:59] And if you helped me in any way to put this together, I thank you. Okay, Lou. Well, Lou's making his way up here. We can say hi to Pam.
[50:14] Pam Tavenier's online. And Daniel DeMartin. Hi, Daniel. Nice to have you with us.
[50:25] And our buddy, Jason Wilhelm. Hi, Jason. How can he do that at the same time that he's doing his online show tonight? So if you haven't tuned in to our fabulous online Bible study teachers and worship leaders, please do.
[50:42] They're fabulous. And now from Louie. All set. Merry Christmas, everybody. Merry Christmas. You know, I was going to introduce myself as normally, but as I was sitting there, I realized I haven't had the opportunity to say it this way in quite a while, and it's rather a blessing.
[51:00] Yeah, I'm the dad of Kate. Thank you. So this evening at this point, it probably says in your bulletin, I'm going to be reading from two books in the Bible.
[51:17] First is Isaiah chapter 9, verse 6. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
[51:30] And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
[51:41] from John chapter 12, verses 44 through 46. Then Jesus cried out, Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.
[52:00] The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into this world as a light so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
[52:12] This is the word of our Lord. Thanks be to God. Please sing along with us to this one.
[52:24] It does have a little twist, but lots of it is familiar. God rest ye merry gentlemen. I trust you, Mary, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay.
[52:49] Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day. To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray.
[53:01] Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.
[53:13] He has come for us, this Jesus. He's the hope for all mankind.
[53:26] He has come for us, the Messiah. Born to give us life.
[53:38] From God our Heavenly Father, a blessed angel came. And unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same.
[53:52] How then in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
[54:04] Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. He has come for us, this Jesus.
[54:17] He's the hope for all mankind. He has come for us, the Messiah.
[54:31] Born to give us life. All the angels sing, alleluia.
[54:43] All the angels sing, alleluia. Jesus Christ is born. All the children sing, alleluia.
[54:57] He is Christ the Lord. He has come for us, this Jesus.
[55:09] He's the hope for all mankind. He has come for us, this Messiah.
[55:24] Born to give us life. He is born to give us life.
[55:35] Angels sing, alleluia. Jesus Christ is Lord.
[55:47] All the children sing, alleluia. He is Christ the Lord.
[56:01] So I'm going to invite my choir up while I'm yucking again.
[56:16] He came for us. He will come again. And he's with us right now in the waiting. There's an unspeakable joy when you know you belong to this family of believers.
[56:28] And are an adopted son or daughter in the family of God. So hi, brothers and sisters. And I always wanted a sister because I have three little brothers.
[56:39] And hi, guys. No disrespect if you're watching tonight. Love you. Yeah. Yeah. After our final song with the choir, Pastor Kathy's going to offer a benediction.
[56:54] And then you're invited out into the fellowship hall where there are refreshments that some other fabulous volunteers were willing to scuttle about to get out.
[57:05] So we hope to see you out there as well. This is joy to the world. Joy to the world.
[57:30] Joy to the world. On the world. The world. Let earth cứ even see The Lord. Let in every heart prepare Him alone.
[57:50] The earth and nature save. And heaven and nature save. And in heaven, heaven, heaven, nature, sing Joy to the world, the Savior reigns Let all their songs and songs From fields and falls, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy Repeat the sounding joy Repeat, repeat the sounding joy Joy, speak of all joy
[58:56] Over the flowing cloud No touch in hell Joy, speak of all joy Rises in my soul Never lets me go He rules the world With truth and grace And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness And wonders of His love And wonders of His love And wonders of His love Joy, speak of all joy
[60:01] And wonders of His love And wonders of His love And wonders of His love No touch in hell Joy, speak of all joy Joy, speak of all joy Rise and lead my strong Never lets me go Morphin Andshe щоб with me To live As 表 l with said Thank you.
[61:01] I want to say a big thank you to Nancy because she did a lot of the work getting this together. As well as the rest of our music people and there was a lot of schlepping bell tables and boxes and all that good stuff.
[61:20] From our pastoral team to you, blessings this season, blessing this week, blessings as we celebrate the coming of Christ again.
[61:32] We will continue to celebrate on Christmas Eve with the four o'clock children's service, family service, and then at 7 and 11. So whether you're here or whether you're at another church or whether you're home watching, let the light of Christ shine in your life as we come home for Christmas.
[61:56] Amen. I heard there's no calories if you eat them through your mask.
[62:13] So please join us in the fellowship hall. Thank you.
[62:46] Thank you. Thank you.
[63:46] Thank you. Thank you.
[64:17] Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
